Today I played around with Burroughs’ favorite experimental technique, cut up poetry. Creating work from printed material does reduce poetry to a jigsaw puzzle, but isn’t that really what poetry is: a jigsaw puzzle of thoughts and words? The act of gluing together words in different fonts and colors is like deconstructing the world and offering it new structure in poetic disorder.
I might have to take this up regularly.
